On the afternoon of April 27, the opening report meeting for Dr. Yang Zhenming, newly enrolled by Yangzhou Tengfei Cable & Electrical Material Co., Ltd.’s National Postdoctoral Research Workstation, was successfully held in the conference room on the second floor of the company’s administration building. Zhang Yun, Chairman of the Company, Deputy General Managers Jiang Tao and Zou Hongfei, Associate Professor Cheng Xianwei from Soochow University and other university representatives together with relevant department heads attended the meeting to review and give guidance on Dr. Yang’s research proposal.
In February this year, Yangzhou Tengfei formally signed an agreement with Soochow University on joint postdoctoral training. Zou Hongfei, the company’s Deputy Chief Engineer for Science & Technology, was appointed as the enterprise supervisor while Professor Guan Jinping from Soochow University served as the university supervisor, establishing a school-enterprise dual-supervision system to guarantee smooth progress of postdoctoral research.
At the meeting, Dr. Yang Zhenming delivered a full opening presentation on his postdoctoral project: Key Technology Development of Low-smoke Zero-halogen Flame-retardant Polyester Filler Yarn for High-performance Cables. He elaborated on research background, core research contents, expected targets, technical feasibility, innovation highlights and existing research foundation, clarifying the overall research framework and implementation plan. After the report, participating experts raised targeted questions on key and difficult technical points and put forward optimization suggestions based on the development trend of cable material industry.
As an important platform for corporate technological innovation, Yangzhou Tengfei set up Jiangsu Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base in December 2016 and was approved to build a National Postdoctoral Research Workstation in May 2023, which serves as the core of the company’s innovation platform system consisting of two workstations and three research centers. Since 2016, the company has adhered to in-depth industry-university-research integration and built long-term cooperative ties with Northwestern Polytechnical University, Jiangsu University, Fuzhou University, Yangzhou University, Soochow University and other institutes, recruiting and cultivating multiple postdoctoral researchers to fuel continuous technological upgrading.
Dr. Yang’s project initiation marks a new phase for the operation of Tengfei’s national postdoctoral workstation. Going forward, the company will capitalize on this cooperation to leverage the aggregated advantages of its provincial academician workstation, provincial engineering technology research center and other R&D platforms, increase investment in R&D, deepen school-enterprise collaborative innovation, make breakthroughs on core technologies of cable materials, lift core competitiveness and contribute to high-quality advancement of the whole cable industry.(Reported by Zou Hongfei)
